This e-portfolio is our way of taking a stand against “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story”, and racism in the film industry. Using this platform, we will critically analyze not only this series, but also systemic racism within the North American film industry. The topics of analysis include: the exploitation of BIPOC people in the film industry, how the show perpetuates white supremacy, capitalization at the expense of Dahmer’s victims and their families, the tokenization of people of colour in film and tv, the troubling social media content that emerged as a result of the show, and how intersecting identities such as race and sexuality were simply glossed over in the show. Dahmer understood how these interlocking systems of oppression worked, and used them to his advantage, in order to evade arrest.
